Before my post, I want to remind everyone that some friends and I are trying to raise money for our friends Matt and Sunshine. Matt is undergoing cancer treatments, which make it so he is unable to work at this time to support his wife, 2 kids and the third who is due at the end of March. We are hoping to be able to raise some money for them to relieve some of their stress. If you are able to donate, no matter how much, please do so by following the link below. If not, feel free to share the link with others.

Okay, February was a pretty good month. We kicked it off with Adam's once a semester class picnic. The purpose of the picnics is to introduce them to different aspects of the culture of those who speak their target language. His teachers provided the food, which included some delicious Afghan foods. Adam's favorite is a rice dish called kabuli pulao and I liked the rice pudding with pistachios, rose water and cardamom. They also got to fly kites, since kite flying is a big thing for Afghan kids, and they enjoyed the day outside of class.
Probably the coolest part of this month was when we were able to attend the Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament. Neither of us are huge fans of golf, but with Pebble Beach being right next door to where Adam studies, some company donated a bunch of tickets for members of the military and their spouses, so we took advantage of that opportunity. It was a lot more fun than either of us expected. We got to watch celebrities like Bill Murray, Ray Romano, Chris O'Donnell, George Lopez, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bill Belichick and Tony Romo golf. At one point, Ray Romano almost hit us with a bad shot that landed right behind us. Adam was able to get Bill Murray's autograph, and he won a gecko golf club headcover for his putting skills at the Geico booth that was set up there.

My birthday was on the 26th. Since it was on Sunday, we went out on Saturday and just spent the day together doing random things. We took Duke to the beach, went to the SPCA to look at and play with dogs and went to Toys R Us to play around. I was sick on my birthday, so Adam spent the day pampering me and preparing all the meals. For one of my gifts, he surprised me with a trip to Hawaii to go visit some friends! There will be more of that on next month's blog.
